Thrive Educational Advising Group provides a full range of educational advising services tailored to the needs of each student. Whether you are seeking general educational planning support, or you are looking for a seasoned professional to help navigate the complex world of independent school and college admissions, we can assist you. THRIVE advisors have extensive educational and admissions backgrounds where they have sat on both sides of the table and worked directly with students in a number of roles. We are interested in getting to know you and your family and assisting you in the process of achieving your educational goals and aspirations. As an established educational service in our community, we provided college advising for a local independent school in additional to providing individualized services. Due to increasing demand throughout the pandemic, we are currently focused on providing educational and college advising to individual families and students.

Most frequently families choose our Independent School Comprehensive or College Comprehensive Packages for full service admissions planning and support. We also offer hourly services. We offer an initial 30 minute complimentary introductory meeting to better understand your interests and put together the best service option for you and your student.

We understand that identifying the "best fit" schools and navigating educational environments and support services can be overwhelming for families and students. We bring our combined forty years of admissions and educational experience to the table to partner with you to provide highly individualized educational consulting services. We are known for taking the time to truly get to know each student and family to encourage student growth and identify educational options and schools that are truly a match, where students will not only gain admission, but THRIVE in the next steps of their educational journey.

Independent School and College Admissions

Our Comprehensive Packages include:

  • Meeting with students and families to help them identify and articulate their intellectual interests, strengths, talents, and goals for their education.

  • Reviewing and developing an understanding of a student's academic profile and extracurricular activities and provide educational planning assistance (i.e., course selection, extracurricular activities, summer programs).

  • Providing guidance and advocacy throughout the admissions process.

  • Developing a well-structured action plan and personalized timeline for the school search and admissions process.

  • Researching and compiling a personalized & balanced list of schools that are well-suited for each student, based on our in-depth evaluation of academic records, standardized test scores, extracurricular activities, and interests.

  • Organizing and supporting students through all steps of the application process.

  • Brainstorming essay topics with students, providing them with prompts to bring their ideas forward, and enabling them to find their unique voice to represent their values, perspective, and individual qualities in a way that helps students 'come off the page' in the admissions process.

  • Preparing students for school and college interviews and helping them to feel confident, and knowledgable about each school, in order to represent themselves well in the interview process.

  • Assisting students and families with a letter of recommendation strategy that will add a valuable dimension to the student's application.

  • Guiding families in navigating the standardized testing process, and providing students with a testing plan that makes sense for them.

  • Providing guidance for the financial aid and scholarship search process and review of awards if they are received.

  • Catering to the unique needs of each student. This may include providing support for first generation students in navigating the college process that may be new to them, supporting students with learning differences in finding programs that optimize their learning style, or aiding high-achieving and international students in honing in on schools that truly match their interests and needs, while moving beyond the traditional list.

  • Providing services both in person and online to meet the needs of our students and families no matter their location, and staying in regular contact throughout the entire process through multiple modes of communication.

  • We have recently added academic subject tutoring and test prep to provide holistic support to our students.

For families seeking educational planning and guidance for students who with learning differences, or who need skill and strategy development to help them thrive in their educational environment, we offer customized educational planning support. Our work with students includes developing a short and/or long-term educational plans and program placement to support a student’s ongoing growth and development. We bring extensive experience having worked with some of the leading practitioners in the field and have the knowledge and expertise to support students with learning differences and collaborate with a network of professionals to ensure we are meeting your student’s needs. We have a number of students/families where we have developed an ongoing working relationship and serve as a resource and their guide for educational planning.
